Distinguished and Famous people from Keysborough
🏅 Matthew Lloyd
Former Essendon forward Matthew Lloyd developed a substantial coaching connection with Keysborough through Haileybury’s football program. In 2017, the AFL reported that he spent about ten hours a week at the school’s Keysborough campus as assistant coach, alongside attending matches. A triple Coleman medallist, he brought elite playing experience to students preparing for senior football. He singled out the way older players supported younger teammates, not simply the number of promising recruits.
📚 John Baston
Educator John Baston became principal of Keysborough Secondary College in 2015 after a career in metropolitan and regional schools. A Monash science and education graduate, he later completed postgraduate study in education and public policy. His professional service included work on teacher accreditation and merit protection. Monash’s profile for his 2021 graduation address describes his emphasis on giving students a voice in decisions about their school. That approach places local educational leadership alongside the more visible sporting associations: the people shaping a community include those whose work helps other people find opportunities.
